World Hearing Day 2021: Hearing Care for All

March 3rd is World Hearing Day.

World Hearing Day is held by the World Health Organization on this day every year to raise awareness of how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world.

The message behind World Hearing Day 2021 is ‘Hearing care for all’

“The World Hearing Day 2021 and the World Report on Hearing present a global call for action to address hearing loss and ear diseases across the life course.”

This year’s theme highlights the importance of initiating open conversations about hearing health and hearing loss’s impact on quality of life for everyone. Additionally, it’s an exploration of options that may be useful to those at any of the different stages of one’s hearing health journey. Similarly, the goal is to increase awareness of the risk of hearing loss through-out life, improve protection options, and increase access.

Nuheara’s Contribution to Hearing Health

As a pioneer in the innovative field of hearables, Nuheara is proud to help stand behind this message. The company aims to help guide thoughtful conversations and dynamic action regarding hearing health into the 21st century and beyond.

A recent study by the World Health Organization estimated that approximately 466 million people (6.1%) of the human population are living with hearing loss. Highlighting the problem is the almost 1.1 Billion young people (under 35) are in danger of significant hearing loss. The primary risk factor facing them in the future is loud recreational noise. Consequently, the message that it is never too early to check your hearing.

Also highlighted in this study is that people with hearing loss benefit from early identification; use of hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other assistive devices; captioning and sign language; and other forms of educational and social support. Moreover, this reinforces the need for innovative, forward-thinking, and affordable hearing solutions.
