For the Nuheara Team, Veterans are more than just a person who served in the armed forces. They are our wives, brothers, fathers and friends and in some cases they are members of our family.
Over the years, we’ve met many Vets of all ages who as a result of their service, struggle to hear what they want to hear in different situations. We realize IQbuds™ have the capacity to help many deserving men and women worldwide.
During last year’s Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, Nuheara launched the “Give Back to Vets” initiative, partnering with the Returning Vets of Diablo Valley (RVDV). Through this partnership and with the help of many of our customers, Nuheara committed to giving away 16 pairs of IQbudsTM to deserving Vets.
Nuheara recently took part in two events to present IQbuds™ to Vets: One with UC Berkeley’s Cal Veterans Group, and another at the Concord Vets Center.

Veterans and Hearing Loss
Hearing Loss is a huge health issue for Veterans. The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs offers sobering data on the scope of hearing loss epidemic among veterans:
“As of the close of fiscal year 2014, more than 933,000 Veterans were receiving disability compensation for hearing loss, and nearly 1.3 million received compensation for tinnitus. In addition, many Veterans score normally on hearing tests but have difficulty understanding speech. This condition, called auditory processing disorder, is often associated with blast exposure.“
Many Veterans find IQbuds™ to be a great solution if they have mild to moderate hearing loss as they allow the users to control how they hear the world around them and also listen to music on their smart devices. Although not an alternative to a hearing aid, IQbuds™ provides a great solution for many Vets and our ‘Giving Back to Vets’ is one way we are alerting the Vets community to the benefits of IQbuds™.
Veterans and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
The PTSD Foundation of America reports that one in three returning troops are diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress symptoms. Sadly, less than 40% will seek help.
At this time, Nuheara has only anecdotal evidence suggesting that IQbuds™ help people with PTSD. However, customer feedback suggests that by reducing uncomfortable and distracting noise, while allowing in what the user wants to hear, IQbuds™ have in some cases assisted the quality of life of people with PTSD.
Our mission is to develop products that have a positive social impact through the use of innovative hearing technology. As such, it is our honor to help our communities of veterans worldwide through this programs such as the Giving Back to Vets program.
