How does the hearing check work?<\/h2>\n

The Ear ID* Hear-in-Noise online hearing check assesses how you hear in a noisy background. The test will consist of a voice reading 3 numbers at different volumes with different background noise levels. You then need to enter those three numbers into the check to progress, even if you have to guess. The background noise levels change to see how your hearing of voices is impacted by background noise and distractions. This check has been developed by the National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL) and Nuheara.<\/p>\n

How long does it take?<\/h2>\n

For people with more serious hearing challenges, it is pretty quick and will only take 4 or 5 minutes as the test works out you are guessing pretty quickly. For people with mild to moderate hearing challenges it can take up to 10 minutes as the test checks different voice and background noise levels. For people with no hearing challenges, it will take 5-10 minutes.<\/p>\n

How to interpret your results.<\/h2>\n

Your results will be sent to you at the completion of the check. The results will reflect three major hearing loss groups: Green, Blue, and Orange. The results are based on your age which is shown on a chart on the x axis and your speech-in noise score which is determined by the Speech Reception Threshold (SRT) and is shown on the Y or vertical axis.<\/p>\n

Why do you email me the results?<\/h2>\n

The results are emailed to you with a chart reflecting your results and an explanation of these results that can be used to inform the next step in your hearing health journey. This guide is emailed to you to have on hand and so you can reference it when considering what products and solutions are right for you.<\/p>\n

What is NAL?<\/h2>\n

The National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL) is the research division of Hearing Australia. Hearing Australia is a statutory body established under the Australian Hearing Services Act 1991. Since 1947, NAL\u2019s research into hearing has opened new ways in which people with hearing problems can be helped.<\/p>\n
