In this video, we’ll go over what Ear ID is and how it works. Ear ID is a hearing assessment that uses an NAL and L2 self-fitting formula, the same technology that is used by audiologists around the world. In less than 10 minutes, Ear ID will assess your hearing and also calibrate the buds to your unique hearing profile. It’s extremely simple to do.
Once your buds are charged and you have downloaded the app, find a quiet place and then click on the Ear ID icon in the menu. This will prompt you to take a couple of steps to ensure your surroundings are quiet enough and that you have the right size ear tip on. The first screen will test the noise around you. If the sound is too loud, it will display red and tell you that it is too loud and that if you continue your results may not be accurate.
If it’s quiet enough, the next screen will ask you if you know which ear you hear better with. It’s OK if you don’t know. The next screen will check to make sure the ear tip size you are using is creating a good enough seal. If for some reason you do not have the right seal and cannot hear the tones, a pop up will appear that says you missed a quiet tone. It will ask you to try the next largest ear tip than the one you’re currently trying.
When you change the earbuds you can hit Next. To test that these are the right size tips the screen will prompt you to listen for a heartbeat and ensure you can hear it in both ears. Then, it will prompt you again to tap when you hear a series of sounds to double check that you have a good seal. If your surroundings are quiet and the tip is the right size, then the app will prompt you to start the Ear ID assessment.
Once you hit Start, it will display Test Is Active. The test will play a series of sounds and you tap once you hear them. You can pause the test if you need to. Once you complete the test, the app will say Evaluation Completed.
When you hit Next, the app will ask you a few questions and then will automatically personalize your earbuds to your unique hearing profile. You can click Help Me Understand This to learn more about your results. In general, the outer green rings represent higher frequencies and the blue rings represent lower frequencies. More questions?
